On a blustery day in September 1971, Tim was alone aboard Water Horse travelling across the loch toward Foyers Point.

The LNIB was trying out a new concoction of marine baits in the hope of attracting the animal. Tim was on his way to position a bag when, driving through choppy water, he saw something out of the corner of his eye.
A black snake-like object reared out of the water about 4-6 feet high, staying erect for a split second before sinking and submerging. Quick as a flash, the incident was over almost before it began.
